Congratulations! You are correct!
The third most popular social engineering attack towards the older population is a 'baiting' attack which is when someone emails you an offer to a store or service you frequently use. Like I mentioned, this attack normally arrives via email and has you input personal information like log-in information to the company you are 'receiving' a discount to or credit card information.
If you receive an email for an discount product, free or discounted service, or any other offer, the first step to determine its legitimacy is checking the email address the email came from. If you see the email address is concerning (not a formal email from the company), that would be the first sign to report the email as spam. Another way you could determine if this email is real would be by going on the company's website and looking for the discounts that normally show up towards the top of the website, if the discount that was presented to you in the email does not match what is being shown by the website, that would be another red flag that the email you received is fraudulent. Finally, if you still don't know if the email is from the actual company, just give the company a call by searching up their phone number via Google and asking if they sent out the email. Remember, it is always better to be safe then to have your personal information taken from you.
